Lady la Profeta
Lady la Profeta, also known as Lady the Prophet, is a multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, poet, and cultural organizer dedicated to healing, cycle-breaking, and dignifying Latino, immigrant, and Colombian narratives. Her work spans film, poetry, music, and community-based projects that build kinship and challenge harmful stereotypes through cultural authenticity.
A world poetry slam champion and award-winning and nominated actor and director, her storytelling in UMAMI blends cinema, poetry, music, and movement to challenge stereotypes and reclaim narrative authority through cultural authenticity.
Arriving in the United States as an undocumented refugee at age 12, she became deeply aware of the harmful portrayals of Colombians and immigrants in mainstream media. This experience shaped her commitment to creating industry-caliber cinema that accurately dignifies marginalized voices through authentic casting, lived experience, and community-rooted storytelling. Her films Whiteface and Ultimo Latido have received international nominations and awards.
Her upcoming feature film, The Legend of Twin Lord, explores KRUMP as a spiritual, emotional, and communal practice, highlighting street culture as a pathway to healing and resistance. She is the founder of UMAMI, Remix the Ritual, Palabra Viva, Whiteface, and BVCK Zundays, and a finalist for the iDream Filmmaker Awards, continuing to build transnational creative bridges through art.
