Justin McGrail is a true, spoken word veteran, with over thirty-years of performance experience in Canada and the US. He has written for solo and multiple voices, and collaborated with dancers, visual artists, actors, and musicians. For the past nine years he has been a member of Meridian, a multi-media performance collaboration, featuring digital video, ambient electronic music, processed vocals, and poetry (www.meridian.is). His poems have appeared in Geist, Oratorealis, and Canadian Dimension, and have been heard on CBC Radio, Vancouver Co-op Radio, and CHLY FM. He also is Professor in Art & Design at Vancouver Island University, with a doctorate in Art History. His research focuses on urban cultures, graffiti, street-art, and vandalism.
