Khaleefa ‘Apollo the Child’ Hamdan

Khaleefa ‘Apollo the Child’ Hamdan is a spoken word poet, hip hop artist, and former radio host, known for his commitment to youth empowerment through the arts. As a former co-director of the Urban Legends Poetry Collective, he pioneered the Youth Speak program in collaboration with the Ottawa Public Library, providing free after-school writing opportunities for young people.

Apollo’s impactful work includes his celebrated cinepoem, “My Hero Drives a Cab,” which has been featured on Button Poetry, as well as his participation in the CBC documentary “In Their Words.” A seasoned representative of Ottawa, he has showcased his talent on nine national stages.
