Are your students finding poetry boring? Unexciting? An archaic form practiced by old people obsessed with nature? Try All-Star Slam. It brings the poignancy, hilarity, and immediacy of slam poetry competitions to the stage. The All-Star Slam pits three former poetry slam champions head to head to head in an all-out battle of poetic verve and wit.
Every team in Hullabaloo will perform in one bout this night, either the first or second slate of prelims. The bout draw, determining the time for each school’s bout, will be conducted before the tournament begins. All teams are encouraged to attend the entire evening.
The audience will be arranged in a circle around the performance area. There will be no stage and no microphone. Instead 16 poets will compete in a head-to-head format to determine the best slam poet at Hullabaloo.
By the second day of prelims, the tournament will be in full swing. Some teams will be flying high, others will be working hard to improve their ranking.
The 5th annual Hullabaloo Finals Night will determine which school has the best poetic chops in all of BC. Lucia Misch will be the feature poet.
The 19th annual Van Slam Finals Night features Vancouver's top eight slam poets competing for a spot on this year’s Van Slam team.
Youth poets (aged 12–20) are asked to break one of the classic poetry slam rules. Includes a feature performance by youth presenting work inspired by Zaccheus Jackson.

Plus, in this edition of Mashed Poetics, the 1983 self-titled album by Violent Femmes will be performed live with poets presented new works inspired by the music between each song.
Day two will see some poets flinging caution aside as they try to move up in the rankings, while other poets will be under pressure to maintain their position.
