Music by Jozy

Music by Jozy is a multi-disciplinary artist living on the unceded traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, but was raised on the unceded traditional territories of the K’omoks First Nation on Vancouver Island. They use they/them pronouns and identify as non-binary, queer, and disabled. Their music is a pop-rap dedication to their stories, it circles themes of relationships, love, gender, social justice, healing and trauma. Their influences include Emily King, HAIM, Chaka Khan, Ashnikko, Missy Elliot, Peaches, TLC, Nelly Furtado, and so many more. 

Jozy has been performing their music with a live band since 2015, and has been releasing music since 2017 with their first self titled studio album “Jozy”. Since 2017 Jozy has released two more full length albums, (“Ladystough” and “The Next Phase”) a handful of singles, and a few EPs. As well as featuring on many collaboration tracks with other artists. A song from their first album, “To Let Go”, was selected for placement in a feature film in 2019, “Five Feet Apart” produced by CBS Films. They attended Nimbus School of the Recording Arts and media straight out of high-school with the intention of furthering their ability to document and create their own music.

Their live performance highlights include performing at Basscoast in 2017, and many other festivals including Cumberland Wild, Koksilah Music Festival, Arts Wells, South Country Fair, and Atmosphere Gathering. In 2019 they opened for Snotty Nose Rez Kids at the Waverley Hotel and Pub. In 2023 they put their band back together again and have since performed at the Fox Cabaret, Tyrant Studios, Birdhouse Studios, Woodstove Music Festival, and the Cumberland Village Square Summer Concert series. 

They are currently writing a grant to fund the recording of their next project, as well as booking gigs with their band, and writing new music regularly.
