What’s Happening at Vancouver Poetry House

This month
Joseph Dandurand, Artistic Director at Vancouver Poetry House, will be stepping down from his position.

Joseph has been a calming, kind, and generous presence with Vancouver Poetry House for over two years. He has always approached every meeting, event, and task with a good mind and good heart. With the Verses team he helped us rise to the challenge of programming during a pandemic. He is a strong presence and voice at the virtual slams.

As he steps away from Vancouver Poetry House as Artistic Director, he will be focusing his energy on the creation and promotion of his artistic pursuits, of which there are many: he has just completed a 100 page manuscript of poetry titled The Calm Interruption of a Madman, and two screenplays, he is working on a new (currently untitled) children’s puppet show, plus he has completed filming on a film for children with Axis Theatre.

He will also be continuing with his position as Director of the Kwantlen Cultural Center and as the Writer in Residence for the Vancouver YMCA.

Somehow, in addition to all of this, Joseph is caregiver to three children, four dogs, and a new kitten.

You can watch for him at multiple upcoming live and virtual readings (and the occasional poetry slam). We hope to work with him again soon.
