Vancouver Poetry Slam is BACK!!

Vancouver Poetry Slam is BACK! We’ve taken a long pause while we sorted out a new venue, but we’re sure you’ll agree it was well worth it when you check out our new home at Shamshiri Caveman (139 Keefer St)!

You can join us in-person or online on Monday, March 10th, for Vancouver Poetry Slam feat. Jillian Christmas! (Full details on the event page.)

This will be the first of two slams in March. The next one takes place on March 24th (feature TBD). The top four poets at each event will qualify for the Vancouver Poetry Slam Finals on April 7th, the winner of which will officially represent Vancouver Poetry Slam at the Canadian Individual Poetry Slam!! Want more information about how the slam works? Check out the Van Slam page here.

Then, starting in May, the slam will resume a regular schedule on the first Monday of every month.

ABOUT THE SLAM:

We will be returning to a 2-round poetry slam format this year. Up to 10 poets compete in the first round, with the top four poets moving onto the second round. Both rounds have a 3-minute time limit (with a 10-second grace period). Standard slam rules apply: original work only; no props; no costumes; no musical accompaniment; no animal acts; and no nudity. But remember, as always: The point is NOT the points – the point is the POETRY!

Starting in May, we’ll begin a new qualifying season, with poets having a full year to compete for spots in the 2026 CIPS qualifier.

We hope you’ve missed us as much as we’ve missed you!!
