We invite you to participate in GivingTuesday, the global day of giving.
Following the commercialism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this is a time to support charities, non-profits, and each other.
With Covid -19 shutting people and communities off from one another, the weather becoming more inclement, and the holiday season on our horizon, we can reflect on what giving can be. Whether it is time, presence, or the material.
To exercise the virtue of giving to others is to strengthen community. Giving can be inclusive of giving understanding, patience, encouragement, or acceptance. Providing a sense of inclusion and belonging to those of us feeling disconnected by physical or mental struggles, a history of rejection or isolation during the pandemic is the most valuable gift of all.
Art is a uniquely human form of engagement. It underlines shared experience and emotion and encourages empathy. Vancouver Poetry House is the largest spoken word organization in Canada. VPH is dedicated to bringing poetry from diverse oral and literary traditions to Vancouver and British Columbia. We support Vancouver Poetry Slam, Verses Festival of Words (along with Hullabaloo), and Wordplay. The purpose of Vancouver Poetry House is to advance, federate, shelter & maintain poetry in Vancouver with equal respect for the literary and oral traditions.
If you can spare a few dollars this GivingTuesday to help us support artists and their work during this difficult time, please visit our Canada Helps page.

Stay safe and take care.
