Amplify Spoken Word Intensive

Amplify Spoken Word Intensive– Applications are now open for Amplify 2026.

Amplify Spoken Word Intensive 2026 runs May 4-15 across Vancouver. It is co-produced by Stage to Page Performance Society, Vancouver Poetry House, and Historic Joy Kogawa House with support from Enabling Arts, OneMic Educators, the Calgary Spoken Word Society, the British Columbia Arts Council, and Canada Council for the Arts.

Over 10 days, the selected cohort will receive a range of workshops, lectures, and performance opportunities to write, edit, rehearse, and develop new/existing work.

The focus for 2026 is Endurance. This will include an introduction to long form poetics, embodied performance through theatre and dance, as well as ritual and ethical practices that will help sustain a poets career.

A cohort will be chosen/curated through an application process. This cohort will form a small group/ensemble that will access the full intensive and all the programming therein. However, there will be many opportunities for folks to register/attend/audit workshops and lectures that will be open to the public.
