Julia Pileggi
Julia is a published writer, performance poet, multi-disciplinary artist, and educator. She is currently the 2019 Poet in Residence at Southridge School. With a vast experience in improv, performance, play-making, and story-telling, Julia has championed the self-expression of youth and adults alike, both on the page and the stage for the last 10 years. She has toured her poetry nationally and internationally, performing in a number of festivals, galleries, high schools, and shows. Julia was a top 10 finalist at the Canadian Individual Poetry Slam (2017), a former member of Slamapalooza (2016), and a former member of the internationally competing VanSlam team (2016, 2017). Julia is also the co-founder of the 8-year writing movement These Five Minutes through which she hosts readings, writing groups, and writer’s workouts across Canada. Julia gives voice to themes including self-worth, belonging, relationships, family, and (more times than intended) food.
