Slam wins get you into the running to represent Vancouver in the Canadian Individual Poetry Slam at Verses Festival in April 2026. See more about Poetry Slam and Code of Conduct on our Website. \nABOUT OUR FEATURE: \nBrittney Smaila  \nBrittney is a neuroscientist\, poet\, and educator who uses language to crack open complex ideas until they’re felt. Drawn to the heaviest light\, she works in the space between science and story\, giving form to the abstract without flattening it. On stage\, her work mixes wit with vulnerability\, pressing on the edges of power\, memory\, and human connection.
