For the past 8 months poets have been competing to earn the privilege to compete for a spot on the Vancouver Youth Poetry Slam Team. On this night the top 8 scoring poets from the season will go head to head to make it on to the 2016 team.

Competing poets include Everett Montinola, Martina Dansereu, Santiago Urena, Nicola Durrant, Angelica Poversky, Vienna Claire Jeffery, Andrew Warner and Emma Field

$12 for 19 and up
All proceeds help fund raise for the youth slam/workshops/travel

Along with 3 rounds of poetry (2 three minute rounds and 1 one minute “lightning round” we will also have a feature performance from the outstanding Aaron Simm

“Aaron Simm is a poet, playwright, hip-hop artist, and workshop facilitator currently living in Victoria, BC. He is a multiple time poetry slam champion, and has been a featured artist at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word.

He has worked for the Winnipeg International Writers Festival, and was the co-founder of the Winnipeg Spoken Word Festival. His poetry has been published in a handful of literary journals, including CV2, Lemon Hound, and Arc Poetry. Aaron also enjoys writing raps, rants, haiku, short stories, and biographies about himself.”
