This will be a last-chance slam featuring the 10 highest-scoring female-identifying poets who are competing for the wild card spot in the WOWPS Finals on Wednesday, January 14th, 2015.

The feature for the evening will be Vanessa McGowan.

Vanessa McGowan is a Toronto based Spoken Word Artist and Singer/Songwriter steeped in social justice, advocacy, counseling and workshop facilitation with 13 years experience in social services. She was the 2012 Grand Champion and 2013 member of Toronto’s Bill Brown 1 2 3 Poetry Slam team. She is one of the founders of “Wordspell” Toronto’s only on-going female spoken word series @ The Free Times Cafe. Her first chapbook “Divine Cockeyed Genius” was published by bojit Press in October 2012. Vanessa is proud to be alumna of the 2014 Spoken Word residency at The Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada.
