A focussed, facilitator-guided conversation tasked with engaging artists in anti-oppression dialogue around the topic of “Race and Spoken-Word Communities.” Inspired by National Poetry Slam’s “A necessary conversation on race”, this discussion will ask artists to think about the role of language in perpetuating racism. Exploring how the ability to define terms and language is a large part of the power of dominant classes. Uncomfortable questions will be asked. With the guidance of two qualified facilitators, solutions will be crowd sourced. Come, be challenged, and share your experiences. No de-railing!
