Vancouver poetry house presents feature poet, Rachel Taylor.

Rachel Taylor is a spoken word artist currently hailing from Beyond The Wall (otherwise known as Fort McMurray, Alberta), where she fights White Walkers and attempts to understand the economic advantage of sending crude oil to Texas for refining and then buying back gasoline at twice the price. Rachel has been producing original work since her debut film “The Barbie Massacre” in 1993. Alas, the final cut of this film was lost forever when it was recorded over with Vicar of Dibley reruns by Rachel’s father in 1994. Rachel is a reading fanatic, a comic-book-movie addict, and can quote The Princess Bride nearly verbatim.

There will be an open mic and three-round poetry slam: 2 min, 1 minute and 4 minute rounds where poets accumulate points to qualify for the Vancouver Individual Poetry Slam championships.

Cafe Deux Soleils and the Van Slam strive to be a trans friendly place and a hate speech free zone. Help us with that. We also acknowledge that this event takes place on unceded First Nations Territory.

Also, be kind to our VOLUNTEER door staff. They have to follow BC Liquor Board Rules and once we are sold out we can’t let anyone in unless someone leaves. You cannot save seats for people in line. Let them know if you are leaving. Also no ATM at the door, it’s cash ONLY.

Get there early if you want a seat or want to slam. Before 7pm.
