Vancouver poetry house presents feature poet, Matt Loeb, wordsmith wizard and jack of all trades (or at least those of the written and creative variety). If you’re tired of the electrician, the plumber, or the furnace fixer come and see the poet. His expertise won’t leave you broke, it will leave you wanting more.

Matt Loeb is a Canadian writer-performer. A finalist at the 2014 Canadian Individual Poetry Slam and member of the 2014 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word Last Chance Team (The Wildcats). His first album In The Duck (2009) was met with applause from the audience and his first wide release album Enough Has Happened (2013) has sold on multiple digital platforms from iTunes, Amazon and Xbox, to streaming services like Spotify.

Matt is also the writer and co-creator of the popular web comic Brain Thought Word Say. A labor of love the comic stars fictionalized version of it’s creators as they navigate a complex world of responsibility and imagination. Struggling to make rent and running afoul of a Sasquatch in the same week.
As always, there will be an open mic and two-round poetry slam, (3 min) where poets accumulate points to qualify for the Van Slam team.
Cafe Deux Soleils and the Van Slam strive to be a trans friendly place and a hate speech free zone. Help us with that. We also acknowledge that this event takes place on unceded First Nations Territory.

Also, be kind to our VOLUNTEER door staff. They have to follow BC Liquor Board Rules and once we are sold out we can’t let anyone in unless someone leaves. You cannot save seats for people in line. Let them know if you are leaving. Also no ATM at the door, it’s cash ONLY.

Get there early if you want a seat or want to slam. Before 7pm.
