Vancouver Poetry House presents…

Wednesday night, the top-scoring 10 poets (9 plus the winner of the LAST CHANCE slam on Monday the 7th) duke it out to see who will be crowned the best individual poet in Vancouver. That person will get to represent Vancouver at IWPS in Washington DC from October 7th-10th and at CIPS during the Verses Festival at the end of April in 2016.

The list of competing poets are:
Sahara Rose
Jo
Fernando
Al Mader
Tasha Receno
Siling Zhang
Coral More
Liam McGuigan
Mitcholos
Matt Loeb

There will be no open mic, two sacrifice poets, a four-round poetry slam (1 min, 2 min, 3 min and 4 min) between 10 poets, with the two lowest-scoring poets being dropped each round. The scores will be cumulative.

Cafe Deux Soleils and the Van Slam strive to be a trans friendly place and a hate speech free zone. Help us with that. We also acknowledge that this event takes place on unceded First Nations Territory.

Also, be kind to our VOLUNTEER door staff. They have to follow BC Liquor Board Rules and once we are sold out we can’t let anyone in unless someone leaves. You cannot save seats for people in line. Let them know if you are leaving. Also no ATM at the door, it’s cash ONLY.

Get there early if you want a seat. It’s going to be electric! Come before 7pm to guarantee entry.

Cover Charge: $6-10, sliding scale
