The Vancouver poetry house presents feature poet, Sonya Littlejohn.
Sonya Littlejohn is a Vancouver based writer and poet. Her poem “Grey: a Biracial Poem” was published in Other Tongues: Mixed Race Women Speak Out an anthology of poetry about cultural identity, by Inanna Press in 2010. She works with the Vancouver Poetry House organization, Word Play Poetry in Schools as a workshop facilitator. She is also a member of the Black Dot Roots and Culture Collective. She represented them with the first ever BeDRoCC Slam Team at the 2011 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in Toronto and was cast in the ensemble of Poets at the 2012 Victoria Spoken Word Festival. She has collaborated with many other spoken word artists within Vancouver and Canada. Her themes revolve around social responsibility, justice and love.

As always, there will be an open mic and two-round poetry slam, (3 min)where poets accumulate points to qualify for the Van Slam team.

Cafe Deux Soleils and the Van Slam strive to be a trans friendly place and a hate speech free zone. Help us with that. We also acknowledge that this event takes place on unceded First Nations Territory.

Also, be kind to our VOLUNTEER door staff. They have to follow BC Liquor Board Rules and once we are sold out we can’t let anyone in unless someone leaves. You cannot save seats for people in line. Let them know if you are leaving. Also no ATM at the door, it’s cash ONLY.

Get there early if you want a seat or want to slam. Before 7pm
