Vancouver poetry house presents feature poet, Elisa Chavez.

Elisa Chavez is a spoken word poet, pen-for-hire, and nonprofit foot soldier in Seattle, WA. She represented Rain City Slam at the 2014 National Poetry Slam in Oakland, CA, where her team placed 7th out of 72 teams. She also competed at the 2015 Women of the World Poetry Slam in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as one of the 72 top female poets in the United States and Canada. She does not get a lot of sleep.

There will be an open mic and three-round poetry slam: 2 min, 1 minute and 4 minute rounds where poets accumulate points to qualify for the Vancouver Individual Poetry Slam championships.

Cafe Deux Soleils and the Van Slam strive to be a trans friendly place and a hate speech free zone. Help us with that. We also acknowledge that this event takes place on unceded First Nations Territory.

Also, be kind to our VOLUNTEER door staff. They have to follow BC Liquor Board Rules and once we are sold out we can’t let anyone in unless someone leaves. You cannot save seats for people in line. Let them know if you are leaving. Also no ATM at the door, it’s cash ONLY.

Get there early if you want a seat or want to slam. Before 7pm.
