The Vancouver poetry house presents feature poet, DMP.

Daniel Mark Patterson (DMP) is a Spoken Word Artist who is not easy to define. He writes confessional, heartbreaking poetry, but is not a depressing poet. Sometimes he writes funny, irreverent poetry, but he is not a comedic poet. He is a traveler on the spectrum of human emotions telling tales of the journey. DMP is also a 6 time Slam Finalist (3 in Vancouver, 3 in Ottawa) and a member of the 2014 Urban Legends Poetry Slam Team as well as a 2015 Capital Slam Team Member.

He wrote, produced and acted in his own Spoken Word Theatre show Confessions of a Modern Day Penguin to glowing media reviews in 2015. He has released 7 chapbooks of poetry collectively known as The Modern Day Penguin Chronicles, and his first book length manuscript Penguin by Lamplight will be released in the upcoming months. DMP is looking forward to gracing your stage and waddling into your heart.

As always, there will be an open mic and two-round poetry slam, (3 min)where poets accumulate points to qualify for the Van Slam team.

Cafe Deux Soleils and the Van Slam strive to be a trans friendly place and a hate speech free zone. Help us with that. We also acknowledge that this event takes place on unceded First Nations Territory.

Also, be kind to our VOLUNTEER door staff. They have to follow BC Liquor Board Rules and once we are sold out we can’t let anyone in unless someone leaves. You cannot save seats for people in line. Let them know if you are leaving. Also no ATM at the door, it’s cash ONLY.

Get there early if you want a seat or want to slam. Before 7pm.
