Vancouver poetry house presents feature poet, Cynthia French.

Cynthia French is a member of the 2015 Seattle Poetry Slam.  Other award type things she’s proud of include earning her MFA in Writing from Hamline University, being the 2013 Minneapolis Women’s Poetry Slam Champion, a member of the 2010 SlamMN! Poetry Slam Team, receiving the Verve Grant for spoken word twice, receiving a Five Wings Arts Council Individual Artist Grant, being published in the Spoken Word Revolution Redux and having one of her poems chosen by the audience to be included in Alight: Best Loved Poems of the Women of the World Poetry Slam 2014. She has been involved in the poetry slam community for 17 years.

There will be an open mic and three-round poetry slam: 2 min, 1 minute and 4 minute rounds where poets accumulate points to qualify for the Vancouver Individual Poetry Slam championships.

Cafe Deux Soleils and the Van Slam strive to be a trans friendly place and a hate speech free zone. Help us with that. We also acknowledge that this event takes place on unceded First Nations Territory.

Also, be kind to our VOLUNTEER door staff. They have to follow BC Liquor Board Rules and once we are sold out we can’t let anyone in unless someone leaves. You cannot save seats for people in line. Let them know if you are leaving. Also no ATM at the door, it’s cash ONLY.

Get there early if you want a seat or want to slam. Before 7pm.
