Cotyledon Chapbook | Call for Submissions
Cotyledon: the first poem to appear from a germinating seed
We want poems that you haven’t been able to share on slam stages, poems that are unconventional, poems that you’ve crafted gently, and haven’t found a home for yet, poems that started out as a whisper, a brave thought, or an inkling. We want poems that dream the world into a future you want to be in.
Vancouver Poetry House invites poets who write and perform spoken word to submit poems for the first edition of our chapbook, Cotyledon. Any funds raised from this project will go towards supporting the organization’s youth programming. The chapbook will be shared in youth-focused spaces; please keep this in mind when submitting.
We will prioritize submissions from BIPOC, LGBTQ2S+, disabled, neurodivergent, and low-income writers. We also wish to highlight the work of youth poets, in line with the goal of advancing our organization’s youth programming. For this reason, we will be setting aside at least 60% of the chapbook for submissions from poets under age 25. If you identify with any of these groups, feel free to include this in your cover letter or bio.
Submission Requirements:
Please send up to 3 poems in 12 point font, single-spaced, with a maximum of 5 pages total, in a .doc or .docx file. You are welcome to also include a short bio, no longer than 75 words. Submissions may be sent to submissions@vancouverpoetryhouse.com or submitted via submittable here.
