Hello forum friends, I'm Sue McIntyre, the official getter-of-volunteers for Van Slam. We're looking for volunteers to work at the door, keep score and keep time. It's a great way to be part of the show and support the slam. To say thanks, we let you in free, and we ask you to help over and over once you have helped the first time (I hope that's a reward, and not a punishment).
If you like to greet people, can make change and are vigilant to get sneakers-in to stop and pay, rather than sneak past, you could be an excellent door person. Door people work from about 7:45pm to 10:30pm on slam night.
If you are a math whiz with steady nerves and good eyesight (for noting and calculating scores in the dark) you could be a scorekeeper. The scorekeeper works from about 8:30-11:30 on slam night.
If you like to push stop-watch buttons and you don't mind being called "rat bastard" you could be a super-duper timekeeper. Timekeeper works the same hours as scorekeeper.
