On August 17th, the Vancouver Poetry Slam is honoured to have as a feature, the slammaster for the London Ontario Poetry Slam, Elyse Maltin.
Lover of life, art, yoga, learning, and moments in the sun, Elyse has been on a rollercoaster ride of awe-inspiring moments since she first hit the spoken word stage in November 07. When the judges (from the English department) at her first "slam" at the University of Western Ontario in London told her "your politics overwhelmed your art", she decided to start her own slam. Founder of the London Poetry Slam and member of the 2008 Southwestern Ontario Slam Team, Elyse delights in plucking moments from the mundane magic of the world around her.
This is another oppourtunity for local poets to qualify for the Vancouver IWPS playoffs on September 7th and another event brought to you with the help of the Canada Council for the Arts.
