Flying in from Toronto just to do the Vancouver Poetry Slam comes 4 time Toronto Poetry Slam team member, Truth Is.
A great leader and powerful public speaker of our time was noted for using thunderclap rhythm with a distinctive voice, blending ecstasy and despair. That would also be a perfect description of Truth Is... Her Passion is only surpassed by her desire to explore and express the truth itself and this becomes obvious when her poetry is spoken.
As a member of the 2006, 7, 8, & 9 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word Toronto Slam Team & The Rustbelt Regional Slam Fam she is no stranger to grueling and intense competition. She is the current 2009 Toronto Poetry Slam Grand Slam Champion. She has been a Toronto International Poetry Slam finalist, a repeat participant in the Women Of the World International poetry slam, and the 8th & 9th Annual 'When Sisters Speak.' spoken word concert. In addition to slams and a long list of feature performances Truth has headlined in several conferences focused on social equity and youth motivation.
This is another event sponsored by the Canada Council for the Arts and is another qualifying slam for our IWPS playoffs in September.
