This is a poem wrote last year, when i was living on Abbotsford (ARGH!)
I apologize if I have a wrong spelling or some sentences have mistakes, I still learning your language, you see?
I tried to copy the oral sounds when writing this poem
The Crickets
The crickets are singing
In the short fading night
“Why are they singin'?
What are they singin' for?
For my love? For my death?
For my pain? For the air?”
“They are just singin', son,
That's what they do”
“Don't they have a reason, mom?
They just sing for the moon?”
“They just sing, son,
Nor for the moon
Nor for me or you
They sing 'cause that is what they are
They sing 'cause that is what they do”
“So, tell me mom,
Are they happy? Are they parting?
Is it a conclave? Are they ploting?”
“They are juz' singin'
'Cause they have no reason to be sad
Or to be happy”
“But tell me mom
It can't be true
How can they sing
In the cold night
And don't get a flu?”
“'Cause they just sing
Without a reason
And 'cause of this
Their lives are null.”
