Fireworks
« on: July 21, 2008, 01:15:06 PM »
Fireworks are for fire jerks.
Pyrotechnic nitwits proving L7 right
The masses are asses.

Hey there’s no civic strike this year
Let’s dump our trash on the beach
Let’s stab that old lady
Let’s throw some rocks at police.

Give me sheets of lightning
Give me a night sky full of stars
Give me a full moon in August shining
Give me the mystery of Mars

The only time these fireworks
Have ever celebrated light
Was when Frank Fong’s ashes
Were shot from a cannon
Burning headlines into the night.

(Frank Fong was a reporter for CKNW who died a few years ago.  Rumour had it he arranged with someone to have his ashes shot into the air in secret during the fireworkds grand finale.)

Did you know that every night that there are fireworks in Vancouver, a mysterious white bird flies around in front of Irene Livingston's apartment balcony? The bird has done this for as long as Irene has lived in her place (near City Hall). She calls the bird "quip quip" because that's what he/she says. Quip Quip has already appeared once, on Canada Day. We always wonder where that bird lives on ordinary nights, and how far he has to fly to get away from the fireworks to the safety of Irene's place.

"rage rage at the dying of the light"
dylan thomas
"this is the law of the jungle-as old and as true as the sky.
every wolf that keeps it shall prosper-every wolf that does not must die
like the creeper the girdles the tree trunk, the law circles forward and back
the strength of the pack is the wolf and the strength of the wolf is the pack"
