from Slammaster Sean:
Have you ever wanted to do someone else's poem? Do you have a favorite blankie? Well then you should totally come down to the first ever VPH sponsored Cover Slam. For this one slam of the year you can do any person/thing's poem, alive or dead. The only deal is that it can not be your own. You may do group pieces. You may use props. You may use musical accompaniment. The only deal is that it can not be your own poem. This event is about appreciating the work of others and our very own Sue McIntyre.
Sue McIntyre recently noticed that everything she has written includes at least two (and mostly all 3) of the following elements (in no particular order):
food
God
sex
Sue is former President of Vancouver Poetry House, two time CBC Vancouver Poetry Face Off finalist, and mother to 2 young amazing young artists. She is married and lives in Port Moody. All of this provides ample fuel for her poetry, which is mostly about food, God and sex. Sue likes to perform as other characters, including Nerd Mom, Constable Sam Iamb of the Poetry Police, and Edna Freezepot of the Whispering Pines Amateur Musical Theatre Society. At the Cover Slam, she will appear as herself, and promises to perform poems written by some of her favourite poets on the Vancouver scene. You will find Sue’s work in the 10 chapbooks published by Port Moody’s Shoreline Writers’ Society.
Hope to see you there.
