Like blooms of barnacles
Hard-shelled speakers
Hating endogenously
A kind of exhaustion
Spread across continents
The creaking readjustments of an imperfect system
Popping and blistering
Between political boundaries
Demarcating poverty, actual or conceptual
Intrigue of the dispassionate observer
Millennial hatreds lingering only
So long as mountains
And they too are swept away
And all the little ridges
And all bends in the rapids
Flutter over the surface of the planet
Commes les papillons
Your hatred becomes laughable
Comic as cosmic
Its cavern collapses
The earth giggles
Your hate becomes theatrical
Intermittent, like herd encounters
Like colliding jellyfish
Sun-struck mineral-rich
Chase scenes replayed daily
Spatially distributed
Synchronized dramas
Mechanically performed
Over and over

Becomes stamen flung

Behaving predictably enough
