Against my Skin(Everyday)
« on: April 20, 2010, 11:29:22 AM »
The wind is crisp against my skin
Air rushes through my nostrils
Like a river of liquid ice
The collar of my jacket acts as a fortress
Protecting my bare neck
From the chill of the world
But the elements fight through
The gaps
I see you in the distance
Back turned, still
Perfect like a statue
Your hands are in your pocket
Jacket tight against the plains of your shoulder
Your immobility slows my pace
From a dash to a slow walk
Your elbows, in triangles
Sideways shapes for my arms to slide through
You wear those tattered jeans
Left over from your years as a student
Although a professor, you hold on to them
Remembering your youth, times of solitude and simplicity
You weight shifts and i stop
Hoping you wont turn around
Seeing you
Still
Quickens my heart
And raises the corner of my mouth
And from behind i can prepare
For that moment
When you first see me
There is that hesitation in your lips
Eagerness in your eyes
Then that smile
Warms me up
Sending shivers down my spine
Just before I reach you
I stop
Whisper a pray in my head
Then i carefully wrap my arms around you
Hugging you from behind
You press your elbows against my arms
Locking me in place
For if i was a lock, you would be the key
Then you slowly turn around, giving me the treasure that is your smile
A gift a appreciate every day
Without words I say
I love you
And
I do
Everyday.
