Kelsey Savage was a member of the 2009 Vancouver Youth Poetry Slam Team and a graduate of The Cultch’s IGNITE! Spoken Word Youth Mentorship Program. A graduate from UBC with a BFA in Creative Writing, Kelsey has had her work featured on the East Van Poetry’s Salon’s Best Poems of 2016 list, the 2014 CBC Non-Fiction Prize longlist, the 2014 Vancouver Fringe Festival, and the 2013 Brave New PlayRites Festival. Her poetry has been featured in W49Magazine, local writing anthology Stay Solid! A Radical Handbook for Youth, and multiple Vancouver dance/poetry collaborations. Kelsey hosts ‘Open Mic at the Lyceum’, a monthly arts event in Kitsilano nearing its tenth year, in which she strives to promote creative safe space for veteran and budding artists alike. When she’s not writing, she can be found immersed in Vancouver’s thriving Lindy Hop swing dance community, as well as completing her practicum as an Opt BC Sexual Health Educator.
